It takes strength to be a girl. Because of her gender, she is at great risk of gender-based violence and discrimination. Often she has to give up school, her education and her dreams for the future - just because she is a girl.
DRC works to change structures and perceptions that keep women in vulnerable and discriminatory positions.
This is how DRC helps girls in the world's hotspots:
- Protection from gender-based violence in the form of legal aid
- Access to sanitary pads and sanitation facilities
- Equal access to school and education
- Safe spaces for psychosocial counseling
- Skills development to empower girls and women to become self-reliant and breadwinners
- Information and education about their basic human rights
- Inclusion and empowerment
